On Friday evening, May 26, the Wine Knots group was hosted by Tom and Kathy Zumann. The evening was about change; in other words the specialty of the night was not wine but samples of martinis. The group started with a happy welcome back to Barry and Diane Williams and welcoming and introductions of Bob and Christy Marshall. The sampling then took place with Tom giving the presentation on the ingredients.
The first sample was a Mango martini, which included Malibu mango-flavored Caribbean Rum, triple sec, sweet and sour mix and a lime slice. Very sweet but refreshing.
The second sample was an Appletini with Vodka, DeKuyper Pucker Sour Apple Schnapps, Sour Mix. Both drinks were put in an ice filled shaker, then strained into a martini glass. Part of the group liked the sweet and part liked the sour, but all agreed that both were good.
The evening was topped off with great food including chopped beef sandwiches with coleslaw, buffalo chicken pizza, sandwich wraps, capris skewers, a great shrimp dip, bacon-pimento-cheese crostini, pate and topped off with a martini cake. As usual all went home happy and very full!
