WLN Celebrates 10 Years

The Wildhorse Lady Niners (WLN) is such a big part of the golf community here at Robson Ranch that it’s hard to imagine a time without it. Ten years ago, Janie Farnsworth and Jane Thompson saw a need for a 9-hole group at Robson Ranch and worked together to create our organization.

Originally, the group was an off-shoot of the 18-hole WGA. Several ladies only wanted to play nine holes, so they played after all the 18-hole players, and they paid for a full round. When it became apparent that there was a better way to play, Jane and Janie, along with a dedicated group of ladies, got to work. They named our organization (Paula Saunders gets naming credit!), created bylaws, and established guiding principles. Many of the original goals and objectives that the founders established stand today. Our group strives to educate golfers on rules and etiquette without losing a sense of fun and support.

“This is our baby,” said Jane Thompson. “We have such pride in how far it has come and in the enthusiasm that has grown with the group.” Ten years later, the WLN, which started with about 30 members, has grown to nearly 250 players. Hats off to Jane and Janie for thinking big and clearing the obstacles necessary to create this organization.
