The December program ended the year with a delightful luncheon featuring guest storyteller Elizabeth Ellis who shared with the ladies a fun look at the crazy things that can and do occur around the December holidays. Ms. Ellis has been telling stories for 35 years and has received many awards for her skill as a raconteur. Ms. Ellis, born in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, helped show the club the true meaning of Christmas as she told a humorous, heart-warming story about one of her visits back to those mountains.
The club was also honored by a presentation by singer Cheryl Allison, daughter of Robson residents Brian and Cynthia Allison. Ms. Allison has performed on Broadway and in films and on TV and has won a number of awards for her abilities. She put the ladies in the holiday spirit with her beautiful and moving performance.
Diane Khalar and Darla Mahan presented a representative from Monsignor King Outreach Center of Denton and a representative from Hearts for Homes each a check for $3,841, which was raised through the Holiday Market. The Women’s Club raised a total of $10,358.93 from its 2016 fundraising events.
