The Women’s Club’s annual partnership with Denton County Friends of the Family resulted in a very successful summer Backpack and School Supplies Drive for the children enrolled in Friends of the Family programs! This initiative provides school supplies for children in abusive and vulnerable domestic situations.
An invitation was extended to Women’s Club members and the Robson Ranch community as a whole to participate in the summer Backpack and School Supplies Drive. Again, the generosity demonstrated this year is greatly appreciated and recognized.
Over the course of two months, President-elect Lisa Olson was able to make backpacks available at a reduced price in an effort to facilitate participation across the Robson Ranch community. Participants purchased the listed school supplies and filled their purchased backpacks. If that was not an option, cash donations would have been received and very much appreciated.
Aug. 2 was the official backpack and school supplies donation drop-off day. There was a steady flow of cars that dropped off the completed backpacks, as well as additional supplies. This was in addition to the early drop-off window provided for participants who couldn’t make it to the official drop-off.
In turn, the Women’s Club Community Outreach volunteers, led by Sherry Eason, accepted the filled backpacks and assisted Brittany Jackson with Friends of the Family with loading the Friends of the Family truck parked in the clubhouse parking lot. Everyone had a great time working together!
As a result of the generous abundance of backpacks, school supplies, and cash donations, a total of 130 backpacks were donated to Friends of the Family on behalf of the Women’s Club.
Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated their resources, time, and efforts to make this another successful project that puts a smile on the face of a child!
Thank you!
