Woodworkers Booth—The Place to Shop at the Holiday Market!

Lorraine Wilson

Only a few days remain before the Women’s Club Holiday Market opens at the clubhouse, and the Woodworkers Club is ready to impress. This year, the club will feature two booths packed with handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces that make perfect holiday gifts.

Members have been working for months to prepare, each bringing their own style and craftsmanship to the market. Allen Ajimura and Greg Kohn have turned out an array of samba boards in every design imaginable, each one a unique work of art that any card player would be thrilled to receive. Larry Daniels has crafted reversible trivets—wine corks on one side and assorted hardwoods on the other—which are both practical and beautiful. Bob Hestes, Allen Crowley, and Rick Bidne have all turned many beautiful bottle stoppers, along with measuring spoons and exquisite pens.

Several club members have been busy getting creative on the CNC machine. Larry Ditch has designed several distinctive Mexican Train hubs from his original computer designs and finished them to perfection. Larry Milligan created a chalkboard framed with a grapevine design around it, along with unique, CNC-made trivets. Mike Inderhees is busy finalizing the details on Mah Jongg tile coasters and completing unique grandparent plaques, while Kathy Dial created another breathtaking tree of life on walnut. All this detailed CNC work will be available for purchase.

Shoppers will also discover Loren Christensen’s finely made pens, boxes, and couch tables, along with Joni Matthiessen’s intricate ringmaster bowls, whimsical toys, paper flowers, and vases. Scott Lebsack has crafted a beautiful walnut antique post office box bank, a magnificent woven lazy Susan, and several other attention-getting pieces. Teresa McGill has produced a selection of practical and beautiful cutting and charcuterie boards. Lorraine Wilson is adding Texas flair to the mix with her state-shaped cutting boards, ornaments, and bandsaw box. Jack and Cal Mullins have teamed up again this year to create exquisite woven cutting boards, along with their popular couch tables, while Dave Popejoy has turned out original bowls on the lathe—each one a true piece of art.

Animal lovers will find plenty to enjoy as well. Kathy Dial made beautiful cutting boards with playful and adorable dog sayings on them, while Allen Ajimura has several animal paw print samba boards. Michelle Crissey, Teresa McGill, and Lorraine Wilson created several distinctive charcuterie boards featuring Longhorn steer handles.

With such a wide variety of handmade treasures, the Woodworkers Club booths are sure to be a highlight of this year’s Holiday Market.
