Francesca D’Atria Romano
Hi Robson Ranch residents. I would like to tell you what our district of Denton has been doing these past few months.
First, let me tell you that we went on a tour to see what our neighboring townships have done for their communities through wonderful planning and fundraising. We visited the following sites:
Thrive in Lewisville. This beautiful complex houses a fabulous indoor, retractable-roof water feature.
The Cove, another great site in Little Elm, Texas
Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center in Allen, Texas
The Grove at Frisco Commons Active Adult Center
Lastly, we visited the spectacular Joya Children’s Park in Farmers Branch. This park features technological fluorescent lighting throughout the park, making it a magical place for children.
All these sites feature state-of-the-art gymnasiums, indoor play structures, gardening centers, and so much more.
At our next meeting, I, along with my colleagues, will discuss Denton’s needs for our parks and recreation programs. Needless to say, it was an inspiring trip!
Just to let you know, Denton has asked me to find a number of artists who are willing to paint chairs for the city Halloween event. The chairs need to be sturdy wooden or metal chairs that will be placed in a park to be determined. We as a community will continue to exhibit a “Chairy Orchard” garden in honor of the two ladies who started it, Judy and Anne, some years ago. I will continue to do more research about them and welcome anyone who will fill me in about these wonderful ladies.
