The August Trivia was active and energetic all night. The sponsor, Bionix Hearing, hosted by Carl Owens and his wife Kristen, kept the crowd entertained and had amazing door prizes like a Cowboys corn hole board and delicious wines. They did an excellent job being the music extraordinaire and time keeper. They also brought yummy snacks for the players.

There were 21 playing teams and three spectator teams, and they were full of cheers when they got a question right and groans if they missed it. There were some easy questions that every team got, but of course there are those that you have to really think about and only have three minutes to come up with an answer.

For those that haven’t played before there are six rounds of questions, which are made up of three questions each, and teams bet points on their answers. The halftime question had four possible answers, and teams received one point for each correct answer. The final question was worth 20 points, and teams could bet a minimum of one point; if they bet zero points they lost all 20 points. At this point of the night it’s all about strategy when betting on the final question. Several teams went for broke and bet all their points, and nobody got the answer correct. Most of the teams were close going into the final questions, and those teams that only bet one point were the winning teams. There was even a tie for third place, and those teams had to answer one more question.

The categories vary each Trivia Night; here are a few of the questions from the August Trivia. The answers are at the bottom.

1. State Symbols: What is the name of the Texas State Sea Shell?

2. Clothing: What article of clothing was inspired by a U.S. atomic test in the Pacific Ocean July 1946?

3. Music: Which president played piano and sang at the Grand Ole Opry?

4. Final Question: This group formed in 1929 and was the off-screen voices for specific munchkins in the Wizard of Oz. Name this group.

Yes, eight team members working together as one…no use of cell phones…no phoning a friend!

The winning team members each received Wildhorse Grill Gift Certificates.

Congratulations!
