Althea Parent

It was another fun Trivia Night at the Clubhouse Friday, May 6. It was a little smaller group this time due to other events taking place around the Ranch. However, there were still 17 playing teams and one spectator team. Teams find it’s best to go with your gut but sometimes talk each other out of the right answer. As a bonus Joanne Conaway from Autumn Leaves sponsored the event. Joanne even brought her assistant, Sarah Sanchez, and Sandy Gilster from New Century Hospice to keep the night full of fun and laughter. She provided a pair of colorful sunglasses for each person, candy and lots of door prizes.

There are always some easy questions, but of course there are those that you have to really think about and only have three minutes to come up with an answer. As always Althea Parent was the MC and Joann Conaway provided the music extraordinaire.

There are six rounds, which are made up of three questions each, and teams bet points on their answers. The halftime question had 10 possible answers, and teams received one point for each correct answer. The final question was worth 20 points, and teams bet a minimum of one point or all 20 points. Several teams went for broke and bet all their points; nobody got the answer correct. The teams were close going into the final questions, and those teams that only bet one point were the winning teams.

The categories vary each Trivia Night, but here are a few of the questions from the May Trivia. Answers are at the bottom.

1. One and Only: What is the only food that never spoils?

2. Sports: Who was also known as “Kid Blackie,” an American professional boxer and a cultural icon of the 1920s?

3. 50 States: What is the only two-word state in which neither word appears in the name of any other state?

4. Final Question, Academy Awards: What movie won the most awards, most nominations and best actor at the 73rd Academy Awards?

Yes, eight team members working together as one…no use of cell phones…no call a friend! The winning team members each received Wildhorse Grill Gift Certificates. Congratulations!

Tip of the Tongue 50 points

Wildhorses of Robson Ranch 39 points

Trivia Titans 37 points
