Jewish Friendship Group news

Shalom all

Our Jewish Friendship Group met on October 11 hosted by Dan and Nanci Zipes. We had over 20 people in attendance with some delightful food treats for us all. We thank all members for their participation.

Our next meeting November 8 will be hosted by Ilene and Jerry Schlesinger and December will be hosted by Carol and Jay Solow on the 13th, which coincidently will be a celebration of Hanukkah, which is a Jewish holiday that occurs this year on December 7 through December 14.

Hanukkah is called the Jewish Festival of Lights to commemorate the holy oil that burned in the Temple for eight days when there was only enough oil to burn for one day, a miracle for the Jews at that time of persecution that gave them light.

As a reminder, we are a social group, not a religious group, but we do acknowledge our heritage and observe with recognition the Jewish holidays during the year. Only one member of a couple needs to be Jewish, and singles are more than welcome. We have no dues; we only ask for a “dish” to share with the other members. We welcome and encourage new members to join with us.
