Kiwanis Club stacks it up with pancake breakfast

You could smell the pancakes before your other senses registered their presence, the homey smell of frying butter reaching your nostrils and assaulting your brain with mouth-watering images of fluffy, warm goodness. Grabbing your plate you snagged a soft piece of heaven off the platter stacked deep with the round, tan deliciousness, then retreated with your prize towards the syrup. After slathering the still steaming treat with liquid sugar you gingerly cut off a bite and lifted it toward your mouth. The first flavor unfolding on your tongue was the sweetness of the syrup quickly followed by the delicate, buttery flavor of the pancake. The coolness of the syrup and heat of the pancake complemented one another perfectly. You scooped up another bite to replace the one which was quickly dissolving in your mouth and then another. Before you knew it all that remained on your plate were dribbles of syrup. Pure bliss!

The first annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast held Saturday morning on April 15 on the Grill patio was the perfect gathering place for friends and neighbors to catch up and enjoy stacks of hotcakes. In partnership with the Wildhorse Grill and members of CKI (the college based Kiwanis sponsored club), the griddle was hot and the coffee steaming for the hordes of hungry people ready for a breakfast feast. Ranchers were met with the wonderful aroma of succulent golden pancakes and tasty sausage. To accompany the breakfast, orange juice and coffee complemented the amazing food and satisfied even the most serious hunger cravings.

When you bought your pancake ticket you made an investment in your community and helped a slew of projects and good causes that the Kiwanis Club supports, advanced the club’s work with children and assisted with a wide range of civic and charitable organizations in the Denton area. The Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast is sure to become a favorite Ranch tradition offering good food at good prices and creating a good time to support the club’s many good community services.

Looking for other opportunities to “share the goodness,” then check out the Kiwanis Club Robson Ranch on the first and third Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse. For more information contact Jim Galbraith at [email protected].
