Social Committee Holiday Gala 2014

Steve Melo

On Saturday, December 13, Robson Ranch residents, families, friends and neighbors enjoyed a truly elegant event in the Crystal Ballroom at the Texas Motor Speedway. At large tables arranged around the dance floor, groups of friends and neighbors gathered in their festive holiday finery to catch up with what’s going on at the Ranch and with their families to discuss their plans for the holidays. New friends were made and old ones caught up with before all enjoyed a sumptuous buffet followed by numerous desert choices. This year tables were provided complementary bottles of red and white wine. All guests were also provided a wine glass with the Holiday Gala logo. The Holiday Gala glasses were given as a memento of the evening. David Tanner’s ProSessions dance band provided the evening’s entertainment, and the music kept the dance floor (as well as open areas around the ballroom) full of dancing Robsonites throughout the evening. The evening was kicked off by Master of Ceremonies Pete Ahrens’ toast to the evening.

The Holiday Gala represented the social committee’s final event for 2014. Before this year’s Gala was completed, the social committee started making plans the 2015 events. In the near future information about the very popular Casino Night, Pool Party and fabulous Holiday Gala will be sent to the community.

The 2014 social committee members (Steve and Marilyn Melo, Frank and Beverlee Deardorff, Wayne and Nancy Lussier, Nancy Estes, Bill and Lynne Moore, Linda Overfield, Pete Ahrens, Carol Reed, Silvia Mawhee, Dee Simmonds, Linda Stewart and Bert Zeitlin) express our grateful appreciation and thanks to the corporate and private sponsors who have graciously given the committee goods and services for the silent auction. To the residents of Robson Ranch who have supported the committee events, our heartfelt thanks and appreciation. Thank you. We look forward to serving Robson Ranch residents in the coming year.

The social committee was formed by Robson Ranch residents many years ago to provided social activities for residents as there were no HOA activities. The social committee is not associated with or an element of the HOA. As the community has grown, clubs and groups have provided other social events and activities: clubs, dances, music performances, wine tasting groups, gaming, arts and crafts and many others. However, the social committee continues to provide the very popular Casino Night with silent auction and the equally popular, elegant Holiday Gala at Texas Motor Speedway.

As the outgoing committee president, I want to express my appreciation for all the innovative hard work the committee members displayed this year to make this year’s committee events some of the best ever and for allowing me to me a member of the committee that is truly “of the people, by the people and for the people.”
