Thanks to organizations contributing to UNT vs RR softball game

The Robson Ranch Softball Association would like to take this opportunity to thank Jennifer Manley’s Decorating Den Interiors, 5R Realty and D-BAT for their generous donations to supporting the RR “All Star” softball team that played the UNT Football Team on 7 May at our own RR Softball Field. These three generous organizations that work directly within our community helped fund all of the uniforms and hats for the team so that we could look as good as we think we can play. This was a great outing that not only got to showcase our community and our softball team, but also to show everyone all of the support that we get from folks like Decorating Den Interiors and 5R Realty. These folks have not only supported this effort but have also been sponsors for our softball team for several years. Look for their banner on our outfield fence and on the scoreboard, and if you have an occasion to do business with these folks please convey our thanks for all they do for our community.

In addition to these wonderful sponsors several other folks made this a significant event as well.

To start off was the singing of the National Anthem by Nicole Harberson. She is a recent UNT graduate and her a capella rendition was enough to make any American proud. Shortly after her completion of the song two friends of Robson Ranch, Tom Richards in his Stearman and Jim Gregg in his Chipmonk did a tandem flyby of the softball field to add to the emotion of the flag ceremony. These guys made several passes, but on the last one the Stearman with smoke trailing had to do a roll to emphasize the event.

Well not to be outdone we had to have a special person(s) to throw out the first pitch. Who better than members of the Army that were here with the SOT program for the weekend? It was our genuine pleasure to have Sgt Sam Rios and Specialist Kalian Lujan from Fort Hood start the game. This is the best way that we at RR could thank these soldiers from the bottom of our hearts for their service and commitment to this country.

Our last thanks goes out to Hank Dickenson who is the official announcer for UNT. With all of his anecdotes on each UNT and RR player in addition to his play-by-play commentary, it provides another level of entertainment for the already enthusiastic crowd.
