The Wildhorse Lady Niners kick off their 2015 season

The Wildhorse Lady Niners could not have picked a better day to kick off their 2015 Season on Tuesday March 17. The weather was spectacular even if some of the course was still a bit muddy from the cold and rainy days prior. We had 63 players come out, many of whom were new, to start us out. Some did well like our first place winners, Moe Fitzgerald, Catherine Jenkins and Tanya Jones. Our second place winners were Linda Watrak, Angie Gay, Olive Morton and Irene Wantuchowicz. Third place went to Donna Ross, Barb Holst, Elaine Barnett and Deb Nortunen.

There was also a golf cart competition for the best decorated cart, judged by David Thatcher and Pete Ahrens. The first prize went to Moe Fitzgerald for her fabulous cart, and the second prize went to me, Janie Farnsworth. I discovered that in this I can compete.

We all wore green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. There were green shirts, green hats, green socks, wild glasses and green jewels bedecking all of our wonderful members. There were those of us that even wore crowns. Dressing up, I believe, brings a certain kinship to those who don’t feel quite so silly on their own.

On the same day the WLN had their first quarterly meeting. The torch was passed from the 2014 board consisting of Jane Thompson, president; Paula Saunders, vice president; Linda Brewer, secretary; and Linda Watrak, treasurer to the new 2015 board. Our new board is Virginia Wheeless, president; Paula Saunders, vice president; Linda Brewer, secretary; and Teresa Blackburn-Korn, treasurer.

The WLN boasts a membership of 102. We are the fastest growing association at Robson Ranch. Our membership enjoys playing stress-free golf with a social atmosphere. If you are interested in joining the Wildhorse Lady Niners, please contact our membership chair, Olive Morton, at 262-0828.
