Hollywood came to Robson Ranch recently. The Robson Ranch Women’s Club, more than 400 strong, hosted Elizabeth Taylor. Or more accurately Elizabeth Taylor Wilding Todd Fisher Burton Burton Warner Fortensky, dressed in a black lace and sequin gown and the Krump diamond that Richard Burton gave to her.

No, the Women’s Club doesn’t possess the power to bring the great actress back from the great beyond. Rather Janie Minick, a Texan with the voice, mannerisms, sartorial splendor and resemblance to Elizabeth Taylor regaled the group at its May lunch with the story of Ms. Taylor’s life, loves and career successes beginning with Lassie and National Velvet. Ms. Minick also told the luncheon about her own successes as “Elizabeth Taylor” in appearances throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The Women of Robson Ranch contributed $574 to the Denton Community Food Bank plus 110 jars of peanut butter and 100 jars of jelly. Please remember the upcoming Art, Wine and Cheese Charity Event scheduled for June 11. Tickets are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Clubhouse. Monies raised from this event will go to two charities: Monsignor King Outreach Center of Denton and Hearts for Homes. The annual Christmas Market is on October 8, plus the next social mixer will be on June 15 featuring a tropical theme. Visit http://www.rrwomensclub.org for more information.
