The Women’s Club September luncheon was held Monday, September 11. Members and guests located their seats in anticipation of hearing the world famous author Sandra Brown.

Greeters escorted new members to the “New Members” tables, and Sharon Foy, president, welcomed the first-time attendees and guests. Sharon also reminded everyone the New Member Coffee was scheduled for September 20, and all new members were welcome. She also announced the club’s membership has reached 510 members. Following the announcement Sharon recognized the September birthdays and shared “fun facts” about people born in the month of September. Sharon also provided the treasurer’s report and service donation totals.

Sharon further publicized the Friends of the Family Clothes Drive for women returning to the workplace. Business casual clothing will be collected October 9 to October 13, 2:00-5:00 p.m. Please ensure it is gently used, cleaned and on a hanger when delivered to Nanci Odom’s home, 8500 Stirling Drive. Please contact Nanci at 727-249-1662 if you have any questions.

Joyce Frey kicked off the featured program by introducing Sandra Brown, world famous author. Sandra has over 50 best sellers listed on the New York Times best sellers list, and she recently released Seeing Red. She generously shared how she began her writing career, on her husband’s dare, and quickly became a world renowned author. She also shared, “a day in the life” of her busy schedule and how a book advances from a written draft to a best seller. She further detailed how she developed her writing style, which eventually evolved into the suspense genre we all know today. Additionally, Sandra graciously stayed after the luncheon to autograph books and have her picture taken with her fans. It was a wonderful afternoon.

The November program will be the special production of “Sunbows & Rainshine—A Celebration of Change” with the multi-talented members of the Trammell Group. This musical troupe is very much in demand and performs throughout the Southwest. Get your check in soon!
