Yes, horseshoes IS an Olympic sport

Scott Baker

The inaugural Olympic Horseshoe events of Horseshoe Ladder and Horseshoe Ringers finished up the day before the final day of the Olympics. Horseshoe Ringers required 500 horseshoe throws and counting the total number of “ringers” made. Not only was this a game in itself, it also provided lots of practice for other horseshoe events. The winners were Jeff Harwell receiving gold in first place, Scott Baker receiving silver in second place and Joey Misiaszek receiving bronze in third place.

Horseshoe Ladder was a series of games played against various opponents. The placement in the ladder was not about the number of games won but the accumulated points against all of the opponents. The key here is to make as many points as possible per game. The accumulated points mark the player’s position in the ladder and standing against all other players in the ladder. The winners were Jeff Harwell receiving gold in first place, Joey Misiaszek receiving silver in second place, and Rick Marsh receiving bronze in third place.

Congratulations to all the winners. But the biggest congratulations go to all the participants who made this inaugural event such a success!
