On Sept. 8-10 the Robson Ranch Men’s Golf Association (RRMGA) held their 18th annual Member/Guest Golf Tournament. The tournament started on Thursday morning with 84 teams competing in six flights of 14 teams over all 27 holes of the Wildhorse course. The field consisted of 84 RRMGA members and 84 of their guests. There were guests from all over the USA and some from as far away as India.
To add a little excitement to the event, on each par 3 there were opportunities to win either a golf cart or a car with a hole-in-one. Sadly, no one took advantage of the opportunity this year. The course was in great shape, so no one had that as an excuse for not playing well. After the round each day, golfers and spouses got together for a few cold beverages and the sharing of stories about the round.
Friday’s round of golf was followed in the evening by a Fiesta Social Mixer sponsored by TaylorMade. Phil Rogers provided a great night of musical entertainment, and the Grill provided a fantastic taco bar and tequila tasting to add to the atmosphere. The event included a “Pitching In For St Jude’s” pitching contest where, for a $10 donation, participants tried to hit a golf ball into a kiddie pool at the bottom of the hill below the patio. There were seven winners who received a new TaylorMade wedge. The event raised over $2,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With the beautiful sunset off the patio, it was a night enjoyed by all.
On Saturday morning the final round of golf was played, followed by the traditional Member/Guest Banquet. The nearly 300 people in attendance enjoyed a fabulous meal, while dancing to the band Pick Pockets. During the evening, both our sponsors and the flight winners were recognized. The six flight winners were as follows:
Hogan Flight: Jim and Matt Pierce
Nelson Flight: Dan and David Dickens
Snead Flight: Mark and Mike Shea
Palmer Flight: Joe Cooper and Burt Samples
Nicklaus Flight: Jim and Chris Kohnert
Player Flight: Greg Metzler and Rick Wick
Finally, the winner of the MGA raffle was announced. The Grand Prize was a 2022 EVO golf cart valued at over $12,000. The winner of the golf cart was a resident and MGA member, Hans Stover, who had just recently agreed to buy his wife a golf cart this year! Some guys have all the luck!
None of this was possible without the 60 sponsors who supported the Member/Guest Tournament, including our title sponsor, Tarrant Roofing. You can see the entire list of sponsors on the MGA website www.rrmga.com. Please trade with them when possible, as they support the various clubs and associations at the Ranch!
By all accounts, the event was a great success. Our guests had an opportunity to see the Ranch and all it has to offer, but most importantly, they experienced the friendliness, hospitality, and generosity of the people who live and work at the Ranch.
