Ana Corey, Publicity Chair
As we move into 2024, we look back on the 2023 season of the Robson Ranch Women’s Golf Association (WGA) with gratitude. Golf is the reason we come together but, more importantly, we are grateful for the opportunity to be among friends and share camaraderie and our passion for the game of golf. We appreciate this community, which enables us to share good times, make new friends, compete, and enjoy the game.
We ended the year with our annual Christmas Luncheon which, once again, was fabulous! This year we had our largest attendance of 123 merry members. Spirits were festive in anticipation of what would be unveiled as the servers brought out the meal. What better way to begin the celebratory mood than with a Christmas mojito?! Do we drink it or hang it on our tree? The elixir was served in a clear, glass ornament—so, both! Not to be outdone, the cranberry-filled brie en croûte was followed by a delectable pork tenderloin and a divine peppermint creme brûlée. Thank you to Shannon Dunston and Becci Tomasek for the festivities and the staff for their wonderful preparation and service.
Member and Robson Ranch poet Judy Fletcher continued the tradition of a fun holiday poem, noting the talents and personalities of several members, along with help from golf pro Craig Pullen. Much laughter was followed by the 2023 WGA awards: Most Chip-ins: Laura Ford (five chip-ins), Most Birdies: Kerri Kay (16 birdies), Most Eagles: Linda Knightly (one eagle on May 2 on #6 North), Most Improved Golfer: Kathy Calloway (lowered her handicap by 3.9), Holes-in-One: Barbara Arden (#2 North), Lea Ann Kirby (#4 South), and Becci Tomasek (#2 West), each of whom received $205.
Following the awards ceremony, the 2024 board members were sworn in. They are as follows: President Sue Galinski, Vice President Candy Mikulik, Secretary Donna Slater, and Treasurer Peggy Puckett. Other members who will be contributing to the 2024 season are as follows:
