We all wore green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day as is our custom. We were fortunate to have the Denton Celtic Dancers as our guests this year. They performed four dances, a solo dance, and the Scottish nephew of one of the dancers sang a Celtic tune a capella. Throughout the show they stopped to share tidbits of Celtic folklore with us.
This group has been a part of the Denton arts scene for more than 20 years, meeting every Sunday from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Denton Visual Arts Center. They performed Scottish country as well as Irish dances dating back to the 1700s as well as new dances that are devised each year. Several of our women’s club lassies even joined in for the last dance of the day. Great fun was had by all.
Do you know how to click yet? Don’t be afraid; it’s easy. Darla Mahan, Peggy Crandell and Teresa Blackburn-Korn were the stars in a video produced to help you understand how to get to our website. The video was also shown on channel 21 for your convenience.
Teresa Blackburn-Korn gave recognition to all new members and first time attendees, and then we were all serenaded by Frank Sinatra singing Happy Birthday to all March celebrants. The Denton Community Food Center received 222 pounds of peanut butter and fruit plus $958 cash. Thank you, ladies, for your continued generosity.
