Trivia aficionados, trivia dabblers, and folks who just wanna have fun attended our third Trivia Night at the Ranch on July 20, conducted by the RR Trivia Club. The clubhouse ballroom was abuzz with positive energy and brain synapses firing at the max! We awarded nearly $2,000 in prizes—both to individuals and to entire tables. Prizes included gift cards to the Wildhorse Grill and Pro Shop, as well as Visa gift cards, a new addition.

Our enthusiastic congratulations to the top three teams: Taking first place was Golden Thunder with 89 points, winning a $50 gift card for each member. Beats Me landed in second place with 84 points, each member winning a $25 gift card. And Trivial Matters scored 81 points to earn third place and $20 gift cards. Bravo to all!

The team names are getting ever more clever and silly … just to name a few: We Thought This Was Speed Dating, The Brainy Bunch, Smartinis, Frosted Flakes, and Darn I Knew That!

Our fourth and final game night for 2023 will be held Thursday, Oct. 5. We will announce the ticket sales date through the RR HOA Clubs & Activities email, on the HOA Message Board, and on some Facebook and Nextdoor RR-only social media sites. Tickets are $15 each. You may purchase a table as a team of 10 or purchase individual tickets. We invite you to join us for a lighthearted evening with neighbors and friends!

Just for fun … three trivia questions from the July event. Answers are listed at the end of this article.

1. Easy, Category: Geography: What is the only letter that doesn’t appear in a U.S. state name?

2. Medium, Category: Texas: How many U.S. Presidents were born in the State of Texas?

3. Hard, Category: History: Who was the first “First Lady” to be born in a hospital?

The Trivia Club was formed in November of 2022 by a group of enthusiasts, led by Linda Smith who serves as club president, Erminja Maganja as VP and publicity chair, and Susan Volgamore, treasurer. We are supported by a team of volunteers who pull it all together on the day of the event, assisting with set-up, tear-down, and many other essential tasks. Our huge appreciation to Judy Sale, Jan Thomas, Deena Barber, and Mary Shave. We’d like to specially recognize and thank Rance and Marci Malcom who worked to automate the scoring system and created a slide show that allowed us to screen project the trivia questions. We’ve received positive feedback from many of you about these changes.

We are seeking new members for the Trivia Board who will continue to host games into the future. If you have interest in joining us, please let us know. We’d like to find replacements for ourselves so we can play Trivia again soon! Help!
