Dianne Edmondson, Commissioner Pct. 4
Yes, it’s definitely spring here in lovely Robson Ranch! Our lawns are all waking up from their winter naps and beautiful blooms are poking their colorful heads through the flower beds, from daffodils and tulips to salvia and iris. Spring has sprung once again, and we are all grateful for her arrival.
Even new Texans know that the bluebonnet is a Texas treasure and there are some blooming now along several stretches of I-35. However, we are only a short 90 minutes’ drive from a spectacular display in Ennis, Texas, southeast via Hwy 114 to I-45. Check this website for full details: bluebonnettrail.org.
Springtime also means warmer weather and sometimes, unfortunately, also severe weather. We’ve heard the weather sirens each Wednesday at noon, and occasionally at different times as storms approach Denton. Additionally, Denton County offers a special email warning system for residents, and if you’d like to be alerted to potentially dangerous storms, just sign up at dentoncounty.gov/268/Emergency-Notifications.
We are grateful to the Robson Ranch maintenance teams who are busy repairing various portions of our community streets. And those street repairs remind us of even more extensive repairs coming our way for county (and other) roads nearby. For instance, Strader Road, which many of us use to get to Hwy. 156, is at the top of my list of repairs to be funded from our recent County Bond Road Package. (Thank you so much for your overwhelming support of that Bond election!)
Strader Road specifications are being finalized now and will be available for various engineering firms to consider in April. Once the engineers have been selected, designing the “new and improved Strader Road” will begin. This process will lead to right of way acquisitions, finalizing the road design and selecting the contractors for construction. This will be a complicated design process, involving crossing railroad tracks, aligning uneven grades on Strader and Hwy. 156, and making safe entrances onto the highway possible.
There are many more upcoming road projects in Pct. 4 that I’d love to share with you, so watch for our Robson Ranch Roads Update sometime in April where we can share much more information with you!
In the meantime, why not take a pleasant spring drive through our community or into neighboring areas to view a Texas spring at its best!
