Members of the Kiln Krafter Club, including Jill Stevens and Edwina Gibson, are hard at work crafting serving platters in anticipation of summer gatherings. As summer approaches, Kiln Krafter members are not only focused on serving platters, but also on a range of other designs to beat the predicted sweltering heat. The process involves pouring the molds, firing them in the kiln to bisque, and then adding the finishing touches through painting in acrylic or glazes, making each piece distinctive and special. This meticulous attention to detail is what makes these creations perfect for both personal use and gifting.
The club’s schedule accommodates the summer heat, meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with additional open studio time available in the late afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Membership, priced at $50 a year, covers training, slip, and tools, making it accessible for anyone interested in exploring their creative side in ceramics.
