You’re in luck! Librarians from the Denton Public Library (DPL) will be in the Robson Ranch Library for two visits in October. They have two helpful and informative programs in store for us! Mark your calendars!

On Friday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, DPL librarians will be in our Robson Library in the CATC building to sign up residents for Denton Public Library cards and to answer questions about using e-readers to download e-books, audiobooks, movies, and other materials available digitally from the Denton Public Library. Expiring library cards can also be renewed. Do you have questions about how to use CloudLibrary or Hoopla? They will be able to answer them! To obtain a DPL card, you will need to show a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, etc.) and some kind of bill/document with your name and address on it. If your photo ID has your current Denton address on it, that will suffice as proof of residency. If you need e-reader assistance, it would be best to bring your e-reader with you to the Robson Library for hands-on help. The DPL librarians will even assist in downloading the CloudLibrary app to your device if you need assistance.

On Friday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon, DPL Outreach librarian Haley Phillips will return with a special program she has put together for us. On previous visits, there have been lots of questions about using e-readers and accessing DPL’s digital materials. Responding to that area of interest, she will offer a presentation on “The Ins & Outs of Accessing DPL Digital Materials and What Digital Materials Are Available from DPL.” To get the most out of this program, you’ll want to come prepared: 1) Bring your digital reading device along (any tablet or cell phone [Apple or android], any Kindle [with the exception of the Kindle Paperwhite], a current Nook, or your laptop); 2) have the CloudLibrary app already downloaded on your device (if you need help with this, you’ll be able to get that assistance on Oct. 11 but not at the Oct. 25 presentation); and 3) a Denton Public Library card. With those three items attended to in advance, you’ll be able to leave the Robson Library on Oct. 25 with DPL digital materials downloaded on your device. If you aren’t able to attend to those three things in advance, you can, of course, still attend the presentation and take notes that will help you access and download DPL digital materials later when you have a DPL card and your device (with the CloudLibrary app downloaded) at hand.

Come to either of the fall events and meet Haley Phillips, the DPL Outreach librarian. Haley is passionate about helping the community take advantage of the services the library offers.
