It was another successful toy drive for the Rollin’ Ranchers Car Club, as the club members and Robson residents filled a pickup truck with toys during its car show on Nov. 17. The toys will go to the Texas State Guard for distribution to disadvantaged children or those children in hospitals this Christmas season.
Among the many toys collected during the toy drive were several ones that must be noted. For the past several years, Mary and Cal Mullins have gone above and beyond just purchasing toys for the children. Mary and Cal were working together throughout the year making the toys. Mary would sew the doll clothes, and Cal would construct doll beds in the workshop. Sadly, Mary passed away earlier this year, before she had completed sewing the doll clothes. The Show and Tell group of the Minding My P’s and Q’s quilt shops finished making the doll clothes, plus contributed two more beds with bedding and three more dolls. This year’s contribution was six dolls, six doll beds with bedding, and 11 doll outfits.
What love Mary put into each outfit she made! We know the children receiving these dolls will love them as well.
The Rollin’ Ranchers send out heartfelt thanks to Mary and Cal for all the work they have done over the years to make Christmas brighter for many children.
This was the last major event for the car club this year, but plans are already underway for 2025. They include a spring cruise around the Ranch and a second CarFit event car show. For information on the Rollin’ Ranchers, contact Paul Wawak at 262-853-6426.
