We always have to handle what is dealt to us and regroup. This is all too familiar with motorcycle riders who have so many variables to juggle: your physical condition, the condition of your motorcycle, the weather, the riding conditions, and, of course, having a full tank of gas.
Planning a ride in the spring is like rolling the dice. You plan, hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Fortunately, the motorcycle gods were smiling down on us for the March lunch ride on the 7th. First, we had the added treat of having a car show to look at in the clubhouse parking lot where we gather. Robson Ranch Car Club members gathered to display their vehicles and chat about the cars, the road, and life. It is always great to join up with them to compare two to three or four wheels. All part of the fun of life at Robson!
Our destination that day was Doc’s Sports Grill in Muenster. Doc’s is the perfect destination for a lunch ride. Some riding, but close enough to keep the outing within a few hours of your time. There are multiple routes to get to Muenster from the Ranch, and all of them are scenic, relaxing, and bucolic.
Doc’s is a great place to gather with friends and family. The atmosphere is like a biergarten, and their beverage selection is vast. In their own words, Doc’s “… combines a great atmosphere, iconic smashburgers, 18-inch massive New York-style pizzas and fresh wings, combined with the coldest beer around!” Dave Riddle was our fearless ride captain, with President Mike Conley serving as sweep. Going along for the ride were Steve Williams, John Steen, Scott Loftis, Jeff Stieber, Carrylyn Jacobs, Vickie Rawles, Tony Thomas, and Nahla Lorenzi.
Did you see us at the Robson Clubs Open House on March 1? Well, we saw you! Lots of old friends and some new folks stopped by to say hello. Mike did a great job putting together the video show, and I think it worked. We may have reignited the flame in some of you who stopped by.
On the horizon: Spring Hill Country 5-Day Adventure in Ingram (April, Ron Bane) and the Celina Star Café (April, Jeff Stieber). On May 7 Carrylyn Jacobs will lead us up the road to the Parker Brother’s Trail Dust SteakHouse. This will be our first dinner ride of the spring, and it should be a great ride up to Sanger. KSU (Kick Stands Up) is 5:15 p.m. We can smell the grilled meat from here! Come join us!
See you on the road!
Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down.
