Our card of the month, designed by Jean Euker, had all of us salivating. Three delicious-looking strawberry waffle ice cream cones on a pop-up Z fold card—how cute this could be for a child’s birthday or just about any celebration in the hot months ahead. Our teacher’s class had 13 of us enjoying our time together while we learned a new technique taught to us by Jean. Many of us discussed how we would go home and make this card in other designs. Club members came together on March 15 to learn how to make this card. Kits were distributed, and the table teachers led their table of three or four club members in putting the card together. As usual, everyone had a wonderful time scoring, folding, gluing, and inking. We leave each session with another card to add to our repertoire.

Now that April Fools’ Day has come and gone, we should think of other ways to keep occupied. Spring turns our thoughts to cleaning, which is boring to most of us, so, instead, let’s get organized! All hobbies need some way to stay organized. Woodworkers keep their tools in a tool chest or hanging on hooks, and golfers usually keep their clubs in a bag and not scattered all over the garage. Painters organize their brushes, tape, and paint containers. What about we stampers? It is so much easier to be creative when we have a system for organizing all of the items that we have collected for making cards. Many of us took advantage of our time during the COVID-19 lockdown to get our items organized. For those of you who still have your craft items laying here, there, and everywhere, it may be time to get your papers, stamps, dies, inks, and embellishments into some type of organization.

There are many helpful places that we can turn to with such a project. Look online for “crafting storage” companies. Most of these offer high-price ways to store various items. They are great at providing one with ideas. YouTube has many tutorials on ways to organize craft supplies. There are even computer programs that have you inventory your items. It is a commitment to itemize everything in your inventory, but it will come in handy when you are out and about and wondering if you already own something. Organization will be a worthwhile use of time, because your creativity will be unleashed. Start this process when your collection of “stuff” is smaller. Don’t wait until your items are bursting at the seams and inertia has taken over.
