Life is full of planning—vacations, retirements, weddings, and careers. But one of the most important things we often overlook is preparing for the unexpected: the loss of a loved one. It’s not easy to think about, but it’s a reality we must face. Women Sharing Hope invites you to take part in one of our most impactful events, “Are You Prepared to Be Left Behind,” returning for the third time on June 28 at 9 a.m. in the Robson Ranch clubhouse ballroom.
This popular and practical workshop was created for couples and individuals who want to be better equipped for life’s “what-ifs.” Whether it’s a sudden health emergency or the passing of a spouse, the goal is simple: Reduce confusion and stress by being informed, organized, and prepared.
You’ll hear powerful insights from residents who have walked this path themselves—people who have experienced the unexpected loss of a spouse and want to share what helped and what they wish they had known. One attendee from a previous event summed it up best: “No one should be remembered for the chaos they leave behind.”
Key takeaways include:
• A panel of Robson Ranch residents sharing real-life stories and practical lessons.
• Legal essentials: wills versus trusts, navigating probate, blended family challenges, and understanding Texas law.
• Resource guide: caregiving FAQs, hospice info, and tools to start planning now.
• A fun and insightful “Preparedness Report Card” game to help assess where you stand.
You’ll also get guidance on organizing important information:
• Attorney Travis Weaver will join us again this year to share insight into legally protecting yourself and your assets. There will also be a Q&A.
• Legal documents and their locations
• Account numbers, passwords, and financial contacts
• Home systems: alarm codes, water shut-off, winterizing instructions
• Utility and credit accounts in individual names
Knowing how and where to find everything that matters in an emergency
• Burial versus cremation
• Providing for a pet left behind
In one recent story, a friend was so overwhelmed by the absence of a plan after losing her husband that she lost over 20 pounds and nearly suffered a breakdown. Sadly, these situations are far too common, but they are preventable. This workshop is your opportunity to act from a place of love and leave peace behind instead of panic.
