About 70 people showed up for nearly two hours of thoughtful and impassioned discussion in the Robson clubhouse among Democrats from all over the TX-26 Congressional District on May 13. About half the attendees were Robson residents.
Many of those who came to speak and listen didn’t know each other before the meeting, but they shared deep concerns about what’s going on in our state and nation over a wide range of issues, along with a passion for changing the political direction of Texas and the USA.
Among the issues discussed were Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, immigration, graft by government officials, the rule of law and due process, proposed tax cuts, and claims about diversity guidelines in business and government.
Brandon Gill, the incumbent congressman for the 26th Congressional District, was invited but chose not to attend.
Throughout the meeting, Ernest Lineberger, the Democratic candidate who racked up 138,000 votes for this seat in 2024, spoke about his campaign for the position for the 2026 election.
David Holmes led the meeting. Pat Lewis and Cathy Laffey handled check-in, Vicki Baker took photos, and Jane Scholz videotaped the meeting. Cathy Lustgarten talked about the success of Democrats in recent school board elections throughout the state. Bob Lamons talked about tax cuts. Patti Kelly talked about the need for younger leaders. Elma Hinson spoke about the unfairness of calling people “DEI hires.” Larry Lewis talked about how politicians can mislead voters.

Robson Ranch Democrats learn about civic and political issues together, respecting each other’s opinions. We meet candidates, register voters, volunteer to help elect Democrats, serve as election workers, and have a good time together!
We meet monthly (except May, June, July, and December) on the first Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Robson clubhouse. Everyone is welcome.
