May marked the conclusion of the year for the Robson Ranch Republican Club. During our business meeting, we elected the new officers for the 2025-26 term:

President: Laurie Wiginton

President-Elect: David Blassingame

VP of Programs: Debra Doyle

Secretary: Lizzie Wickert

Treasurer: Constance Quagliano

Following the business meeting, our members and guests enjoyed a light meal, generously provided by the club. The evening’s entertainment was a creative concept from Laurie Wiginton who organized a “true-false” game with intriguing questions for everyone to ponder. Some questions left the audience stumped, especially when it was revealed that Tim McCormick had once been a cheerleader, which many found hard to believe. At the night’s conclusion, the incoming president Laurie Wiginton presented Tim with a token of appreciation for his three years of dedicated service as the club’s president.

At the June meeting, State Representative Andy Hopper, HD 64, presented the 89th Legislative Wrap-up. In the end, more than 11,500 bills were filed, and the Legislature took approximately 7,000 votes. Fourteen thousand people and more than 5,500 organizations came to testify. Ultimately, more than 1,300 bills were sent to the Governor; 1,000 were Republican bills and 300 were attributed to Democrats.

The club did not meet in July in observance of the 4th of July holiday. On Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Republican GOP Chairman for the State of Texas, Abraham George, will be our speaker. Join us to hear what is happening in Texas politics. Our doors will open at 6 p.m. for social time, with a business meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program.
