Not Alone

Pastor Virgil Lee

Hello Robson Ranch,

First and foremost, I would like to express my family’s profound appreciation for the welcome we have received from New Life Church and the community at large. Our move to Texas has been smooth and joyful. My son Ayden says he feels more at home than he did in Arkansas where he was born and has lived his entire life. So, Texas is already getting high marks; however, I have been told to wait until he experiences the heat and see what he says then. It will be the same as before. We are grateful that the Lord has led us to New Life and the Denton area.

I look forward to getting to know the community at Robson Ranch better in the months and years ahead. As we get to know each other better, you will find that I love making new friends and hearing people’s stories. That is most likely one of the reasons I enjoy being a pastor. I was also taught that it is essential to leave the land better than you found it and people better by knowing you.

Therefore, each month, I or another leader from New Life will endeavor to share something encouraging for you to Love God and Love Others in more profound ways, all for the glory of God. Through these articles, church services, and community engagements, I hope that we will bring you joy and hope through discussions about Jesus and how we can live for Him, regardless of our age. We can all be transformed into more Christ-like individuals and leave a lasting legacy of Christ in those around us. My admonition this month is found in Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV): “And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

No matter your age, stage of life, or season you’re in, we will deal with a sense of loneliness at times and to varying degrees. The world will say that you need more people or activities to feel less lonely, but like any container that leaks, you have to keep on filling it with more—more going, doing, and finding yourself busy, tired, and still lonely. Yes, isolating from people is bad, but people will never be able to take the place of an active relationship with God.

As the verse above says, He goes before you. There is nothing in the path of a believer that the Lord has not already made a way through for us. The trick is getting our minds in alignment with where God is going and not where we want to go. It’s a bit like moving cattle or raising kids—they both want to go their own way. We are the same with God the Father; we have our way, and there is His way. The choice is ours to surrender to Him or not.

When we choose to stay connected to Christ through abiding in Him (John 15), He is with us. You are not alone. He doesn’t just fill the void—He will help heal it. We will no longer need to chase after things of this world to combat loneliness, but as the song says, we will walk and talk with Him. Knowing that, unlike anything in the natural world, He will never leave us, nor forsake us. This world, people, governments, banks, and your golf game will fail, but God never will.

Be blessed
