Breakfast at Wimbledon—Robson Ranch Style

Wimbledon, no other place in the world brings the tennis world together in the same way. Since 1877 the best tennis players in the world have gathered for a fortnight to crown a champion. This year’s championships ended in spectacular fashion on July 12 and 13. Meanwhile, across the pond on the tennis courts of Robson Ranch, the Robson Ranch Tennis Club held its own morning of Wimbledon Tennis Social on June 28. The ladies and gentlemen of the Robson tennis community gathered early in the morning for four timed rounds of random mixed doubles matches. The idea was to win as many “no-add scoring” games with your partner as possible during the time. Those wins were turned in and the teams were then split, courts changed, and the new partners played another timed set of games. After the four sets of games were played, the winners were crowned—the ladies and gentlemen with the most cumulative wins. Winners received the Robson Ranch Tennis Club Wimbledon trophies to display in their homes until next year’s event, and winners and runners-up each received a custom tennis towel.

For 2025, Ralph Berry and Belita Townsend were crowned champions. Ed Dugan and Jenn Lucas claimed runners-up status.

Social events throughout the year are just one part of the very active tennis community at Robson Ranch. Whatever your level and whatever your desired frequency of play, the courts and potential opponents or partners are just waiting for you. For most new residents, the first step is involvement in the Tennis Club, which can help match you up with drills, drop-in play, or introductions to other players for regularly scheduled matches and leagues.
