Community Outreach continues to be an active group. Suzanne Spisak, on behalf of Community Outreach, thanked everyone who participated in the School Backpack project for Denton County Friends of the Family. Members purchased back-to-school supplies for 52 elementary backpacks and 65 backpacks for middle or high school students, for a total of 117 backpacks. The supplies will be delivered to Robson Ranch later in the month, and members of the Community Outreach team will fill the backpacks and deliver them to Friends of the Family. Also, special thanks to Sherry Eason, Donna Gardner, and Lisa Olson who donated 144 backpacks. The remaining 27 backpacks will be donated to Friends of the Family to be filled with items purchased from other donors.
Community Outreach is holding a Duffle Bag Project to support the Survivor Advocacy Team of Friends of the Family. The donated objects are given to domestic violence or sexual abuse victims at hospitals and police stations. Items were accepted at the Aug. 4 Women’s Club Luncheon.
