Big Swing’n Band Club Pink Fling Charity Dance

Chris Corbitt

The Big Swing’n Band Club had its Third Annual Pink Fling Charity Dance on Oct. 3. It was attended by 115 energetic dancers. They kept the dance floor occupied throughout the night as the Robson Ranch Big Swing’n Band provided the music. The band started the evening with a popular big band favorite, “Moonlight Serenade” (Glenn Miller), followed by other recognized tunes such as “These Boots Are Made for Walking” (Nancy Sinatra), “It Had Better Be Tonight” (Henry Mancini), “Sweet Home Chicago” (Robert Johnson), “Save the Last Dance for Me” (Mort Shuman), and the band closed the evening with a crowd favorite, “Sweet Caroline” (Neil Diamond). Vocalist Michele Brandt entertained the dancers and listeners with her talented vocals. The band’s other vocalist, Tim McCormick, took his turn sharing his voice on multiple songs, as well as accompanying the band’s big band sound with his vibraphone.

The evening’s focus was raising money to support the Women Rock organization and their fight against breast cancer. With the combination of advanced ticket sales, ticket sales at the door, and tips, the Big Swing’n Band Club was able to send a check for over $2,300 to the Women Rock organization. This was an increase over 2024’s Pink Fling Charity Dance. We look forward to continuing that trend in 2026. Thank you to all who attended and helped in supporting this important charity.

Our next event will be the Texas Jazz Allstars, bands featuring local high school music talent. The event is scheduled for New Year’s Eve Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 30. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the event starting at 6:30 p.m. Be on the lookout for more detailed information in future postings.
