Carol Hansen with a stack of charity quilts
The RR Material Girls had a very busy and productive 2025 sewing quilts for various organizations. Ruth Lloyd reported that the group completed a total of 766 individual items for donation to various charities and groups. The Material Girls supported the Denton Quilt Guild with 139 quilts and 28 quilt tops, which the guild distributes to area charity organizations. Forty-five twin-size quilts were donated to Fellowship of the Parks for their foster care bed program. For several years, Bundles for Babies at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls has been a recipient of handmade items for expectant mothers married to deployed service members. During 2025, the Material Girls provided 95 baby quilts, 95 receiving blankets, 245 burp cloths, 10 bibs, and 8 afghans for the program. A few other groups that receive quilts from the Material Girls are soldier quilts for veterans, Bee Hive assisted living, and Hill Country Strong.
It is our great pleasure to be able to share these fabric treasures, and we’re already busy in 2026.
The Robson Ranch Material Girls meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the Bluebonnet Room of the CATC to complete charity quilts and our personal projects.
