The Wildhorse Lady Niners and the WGA hosted a memorial tournament in honor of Lucy Walker on September 29, 2015. Lucy was remembered with many stories and anecdotes by her fellow golfers. One of Lucy’s more memorable phrases was “fore, Lord.” A familiar retort when her drive went flying up! A few tears were shed while everyone ate their lunch. Lucy had been a resident of Robson Ranch for over 10 years and had been a member of the WGA from the beginning and a dual member with the WLN for three years.
The tournament was a tremendous success with over 50 participants. There were 14 teams of golfers playing a scramble. Three teams were awarded prizes as pro shop credits based on their golf scores. Respectively, first place earned $14 each with a team score of 67 gross. This included Okcha Cummings, Judy Cromer, Kay McKie and Shirley Green. Second place earned $8.40 each with a team score of 69 gross. The players were Paula Bull, Mary Van Sant, Neva Rhead and Mary Ornberg. Third place with a hole handicap playoff, earning $7.47 each with a team score of 69 gross included Alice Wright, Barb Stephen, Kathy Perry and Carol Cooley.
