Democratic Club: Kicking Back and Keeping Up

Richard Kushmaul

Another month of Fridays quickly rolled by and the Robson Ranch Democratic Club was at it again: relaxing and enjoying social time with other members and guests at the Clubhouse lounge over drinks and finger food.

Special guests, Ernest Lineberger and his wife Darlene were recognized and applauded for his recent campaign for congress. Although his effort in the primary was not successful this time, Ernest reiterated that great progress has been made on one of his original goals in running for congress: getting more democratic candidates on the ballot across the board.

Several candidates spoke, presenting their platforms for the forthcoming municipal elections. These included mayoral candidates Brian Beck and Angela Brewer; Jordan Villarreal, running for city council district 1; DISD board of trustees place 6 candidates Vicki Bird and Greg Petolick. Ira Bershad and Debbie O’Reilly of the local PAC Denton Together offered their candidate recommendations.

It was a convivial, informative event over drinks, hot pizza, wings, a big ole’ fruit tray and occasional music and cheers (not related) from the accompanying bar area.

RRDC will continue to hear from candidates from the upcoming local elections and learn about local, state, and national issues at our monthly meetings (first Thursday of the month, starting at 5:30 p.m., in the clubhouse). Our next social event will be the annual pool party, June 4.
