The Robson Ranch photography club held its monthly general session meeting on April 20 in the Creative Arts and Technology Center at 7 p.m.
The main program was the review of the March monthly image contest results from individual club member entries. The competition theme was “Through the Window.” Fifteen club members participated in this monthly contest and all of the images were impressive and showed the excellent talents of the club members.
Club member Chad Hobson presented five favorite images of his during the “Member Focus” section of the meeting. This part of the meeting serves to highlight one of the club member’s photographic skills and the images presented were truly remarkable in content and detail.
Club president Ron Ice discussed “Grammar and Photography” with the idea of using the shared relationship of purposeful structure as a means to help compose meaningful images. The goals of grammar and photographic composition are surprisingly similar. They are both systems for organizing elements so that the meaning is clear, effective, and the results can be beautiful with careful forethought. Ron encouraged photographers to consider using the actions of verbs or the captivating descriptions of adjectives as a guide to take a thoughtfully composed photograph. By doing so a photographer may have more success in capturing a beautiful image with impact and emotion.
