Democratic Club TGIF: Speed Dating (Sort of) with Candidates

Richard Kushmaul

The Robson Ranch Democratic club enjoyed yet another TGIF gathering on Aug. 21. Three candidates for the upcoming fall election attended as guests: Steven Shook, candidate for U.S. House to represent Texas’ 26 congressional district (running against incumbent Brandon Gill), Julie Evans, for Texas House of Representatives, District 64 (opponent: Andy Hopper), and Stephanie Draper candidate for Denton County Commissioners Court, District 4 (opponent: David Wylie).

Each of the candidates were asked to give a brief (25 words or less) overview of their individual campaign objectives and then rotate their sitting every 15 minutes at individual tables to hear more directly from attendees and to answer questions face to face, all while enjoying a buffet of chicken wings, pizza, fruit, and cookies. The result: a very informal social gathering, good interaction with the candidates and a relaxed time celebrating the end of the week. A thorough listing of all the 2026 Democratic Candidates and their various campaign websites and social media links can be found at www.rrdemocraticclub.com/voting/2026candidates. Yard signs for the attending candidates were distributed. They can also be purchased at the RRDC Website: www.rrdemocraticclub.com/yardsigns.

The next RR Democratic Club meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the clubhouse.

Robson Ranch Democrats learn about civic and political issues together respecting each other’s opinions. We meet candidates, register voters, volunteer to help elect Democrats, serve as election workers and have a good time together! We meet every month (except May, June, July, and December) on the first Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Robson Clubhouse. Everyone is welcome.
