The “Grape Therapy” wine group had its get-together on Wednesday, October 22. We held the meeting at the home of Dale and Cindy Brekke.
Outside around the pool, overlooking the 18th fairway, hors d’oeuvres and champagne were awaiting the members as they arrived. The members provided a magnificent culinary variety of goodies including a great brie cheese snack topped with raspberries and parsley tips on toasted French baguettes, artichoke and jalapeno dip with pretzel crackers, pinwheel sandwiches and hot shrimp bites on toastettes!
The group later rated all the wines well above average. White wine tastings included a wonderful pair of summer wines: Verdelho, a Portuguese varietal and Sauvigon Blanc from New Zealand. We were dazzled too by the choice of reds: a superb Malbec from Argentina, a wonderful Chianti Classico Reserva from Italy and a super Syrah from California.
A Becker Cabernet from Fredericksburg, Texas capped off the evening, and everyone agreed it to be the best wine they had ever tasted from our great state!
Perhaps the greatest thing of all was the opportunity to get together with friends on a beautiful, warm October evening and get to know each other a little better with great food and wine. Ya gotta love living at Robson Ranch!
