The first (and now annual) Sip and Savor event was the idea of Boomer Monica Bishop. The sold-out wine event was attended by 130 Baby Boomers who were directed to host homes by Boomer Carol Jankowski. Carol and Boomer Susan Parker picked the wine countries for the Boomers’ host homes.
Host Dale and Cindy Brekke’s theme was Germany, with a German Dornfelder wine and an appetizer of pretzels and beer cheese dip. Host Gary and Nadine Oknefski’s theme was Italy, with an Italian Montepulciano red wine and meatballs in marinara sauce. Host Angela Meyer’s theme was Greece, with a Greek Hermes red wine and spanakopita. Host Susan and Stewart Smith’s theme was California, with a California Pinot Gris and shrimp. Host Laura and Scott Ford’s theme was France, with a St. Reine Blanc de Blanc Brut sparkling wine and assorted French cheeses. It was a beautiful evening, with Baby Boomers getting to meet new and close friends over a glass of vino and appetizers. We thank everyone who opened their home for this wonderful event.
The next event will be our Halloween Party on Oct. 29, with the Stewart Brothers playing for us. Watch for the announcements.
