Bocce Club Volunteers Prepare for Fall Season

Our prized Bocce Courts at twilight on a beautiful summer evening!

While many Robson Ranch residents are enjoying the summer months, the Robson Ranch Denton Bocce Club Board and its committees are hard at work preparing for another successful fall season. Although much of their work happens behind the scenes, these dedicated volunteers are investing countless hours to ensure league play begins smoothly for the club’s members.

One of the Board’s primary focuses this summer has been reviewing and updating the documents that help guide the club. The Rules Committee is revising the Simplified Rules and Guidelines to make them easier to understand while maintaining consistency and fairness throughout league play. At the same time, the committee is updating the club’s Policies to reflect current operations and the continued growth of one of the nation’s largest bocce clubs.

Working alongside them, the By-Laws Committee is reviewing the club’s By-Laws and Code of Conduct. These governing documents establish the framework for how the club operates and reinforce the values of sportsmanship, respect, and integrity that members have come to expect on and off the courts.

The Membership Committee also has a full schedule during the summer months. As new residents discover bocce, committee members are processing enrollments, maintaining and updating league rosters, and preparing player information for the upcoming season. They are also organizing new player orientation sessions, giving first-time members the opportunity to learn league procedures, court etiquette, and what to expect before competition begins.

Once registration is complete, another major project gets underway. After Aug. 3, the League Scheduling Committee will begin creating the fall schedule for every division. Developing a schedule for hundreds of teams requires careful planning to balance divisions, court availability, and match times. It is a challenging process that takes many hours of volunteer effort but results in an organized and enjoyable season for every player.

League operations will be managed through League Lobster, the club’s scheduling and league management system. To help captains prepare for the season, the club will host a League Lobster Overview followed by the Fall Captains Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Ballroom.

This meeting provides team captains with important information about scheduling, league procedures, scoring, and other updates for the upcoming season. Because captains play a vital role in communicating with their teams and helping league play run efficiently, all captains are strongly encouraged to attend.

While players often see only the finished product—a well-organized schedule and enjoyable matches—the success of each season begins months earlier through the dedication of the Board and its committees. Their commitment to planning, organization, and continuous improvement ensures that the Robson Ranch Denton Bocce Club continues to provide members with outstanding competition, exceptional sportsmanship, and the camaraderie that has made bocce one of Robson Ranch’s most popular activities.
