Tim Lucas (‘78)
One of Robson’s newest and most exciting clubs is TCU “Go Frogs!,” an enthusiastic group of alumni and fans who love to gather together and cheer on Texas Christian University’s various sports teams.
Our inaugural meeting was held on Aug. 31 at the home of Blake (‘85) and Teresa Prewit, our founders and respective club president and vice president. Our generous hosts opened up their beautiful home and rolled out the welcome mat for a sea of purple-clad Ranchers who shared food, fun, and Horned Frog friendliness.
Among those in attendance was Robson resident Harold Leeman, a West Point graduate, Army veteran, professional engineer, and our new club treasurer. While working at TCU for 14 years, Harold oversaw a $1.5 billion building program that included the construction of Schollmaier Arena and the massive rebuild of Amon G. Carter Stadium. Accompanying Harold at the meeting was his wife Cathie, who graciously volunteered to serve as our club secretary/photographer.
Our special guest for the evening was Dee Simmonds (‘55), a former Horned Frog football player, Vietnam veteran, and fighter pilot. During his 27-year career as a pilot, Dee had the privilege of flying with Bill Patton, nephew of General George Patton. In addition to his military accomplishments, he’s been proud to call Robson his home for more than 20 years.
We have plenty of fun activities planned to help you follow Horned Frog athletic events year round, so feel free to join us anytime. Our next big event will be a combined game watching party with the Robson Ranch Texas Tech Red Raider Club on Thursday, Nov. 2. The West Texas Championship is a classic in-state football rivalry that usually turns into an old-fashioned Wild West shootout! We expect a large contingent of fans for both teams to show up and watch the Horned Frogs try to keep the Saddle Trophy (and bragging rights) in Fort Worth for yet another year. Watch your inbox for more details.
To join in the fun and stay up to date with all our club happenings, just send an email to [email protected] and ask to be added to our mailing list. Also, keep an eye on your HOA emails where we’ll announce special events like game watching parties, guest speakers, and maybe even a road trip or two!
We hope to see lots of new and familiar Horned Frog fans at our next gathering. Until then …
Riff, ram, bah, zoo!
Lickety, lickety, zoo, zoo!
Who, wah, wah, hoo!
Give ‘em Hell, TCU!
