Calling travel enthusiasts

Margaret Erwin

Do you enjoy traveling on your own terms, alone, with your spouse, or with small intimate groups of friends? Do you prefer to avoid busses, cruise ships, tour guides and long lines? Are you uncomfortable planning your own trips to new or unfamiliar destinations?

A group of Robson Ranch residents is exploring the formation of a DIY (Do It Yourself) Travel Network, with the following objective: To establish a network of Robson residents interested in DIY Travel, which promotes traveling on your own terms, schedule, and plans.

We will be developing a contact list of resident travelers with experience in traveling the open road to places such as, Hawaii, Vietnam, Africa, England, Croatia, or bare boating in the Caribbean Sea, or touring national parks like Bruce and Zion. Network members agree to assist others interested in travel planning, sharing their knowledge, experiences and tips.

“How awesome it would be, if you were thinking about a trip to, maybe, Paris, and you had a neighbor to call who has recently been there… Someone who knows the ins and outs, pitfalls to avoid, and maybe even has tour guides or maps you can use,” said Dewey Erwin, Robson Resident and network organizer.

Periodic gatherings may also be held to share stories, ideas and photos to inspire you.

If interested, a formative meeting is being planned. Contact Dewey Erwin at [email protected] for more information. Come on, get out there and enjoy traveling by Doing It Yourself!
