The Catholic Club met on Tuesday, October 14. They met at the home of Dorothy Hogan who was a lovely hostess. Pat and Renee Claytor informed us of the outreach done through the Angel Tree at St. Mark’s. The Angel Tree is a way to make sure all the children and those in need in the Denton area will receive a present for Christmas. Everyone takes a little tag off the tree informing the parishioner something that is needed by the person and something that is the person’s special wish. Many churches in the area are taking part in this program, which is spearheaded by the Salvation Army.
Pat Zimmerer did an overview of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas projects that they organize in Denton. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas was founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus in Utica, New York. It is organized in 42 states, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Virgin Islands, Guam and Saipan. They give Mini Retreats, Our Daily Bread etc.
Marge Lane showed us how to make and fill the Christmas boxes for the homeless.
I think everyone enjoyed the evening, which included refreshments and time for some fellowship.
