The Robson Ranch Catholic community gathered on Nov. 12 in the Bluebonnet Room of the Creative Arts building. There were 47 members in attendance. President Rita Paxton opened the meeting with a prayer. Rita then reminded everyone to please bring their donations for our Christmas Outreach project, benefiting Our Daily Bread, to Marge Lane’s home.
Marge Lane told all in attendance about our Prayer Request Book as the book was being passed around. Marge brings the book to the Robson Ranch Rosary groups, which meet on Mondays and Thursdays. Those groups pray the Rosary for all requests. Anyone interested in joining either of these groups may contact Marge.
Our speaker was Father Tim Thompson. Father Tim Thompson has been a priest in the Diocese of Fort Worth for 40 years. He has served as an associate pastor and pastor in various parishes of the diocese. He was in Denton for 15 years; 4 years as pastor of St. Mark Parish and then 11 years as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish. He has a degree in Canon law and has served as the Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Fort Worth since 1992. Father Tim is a native of Fort Worth and went to Catholic schools there before going to the seminary in Dallas and then in Rome. He enjoys golfing, hiking, and watching the Dallas Cowboys if they are winning. Father Tim spoke about end-of-life decisions and Christian burial. Many of the members in attendance had questions pertaining to burial and cremation, which Father did his best to answer with the limited time we had for the discussion.
A Christmas Celebration will be held on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Robson Ranch Grill, so please plan on attending this annual celebration. A buffet dinner of chicken marsala, fettuccini, Caesar salad, garlic knots, dessert, tea, and water, all for $25. Please feel free to invite your friends, family, and neighbors. All are welcome!
