The reorganized Robson Ranch Cycling Club held its first Friday morning ride on May 19 when 12 residents rode the streets on the east side of the Ranch.
The new club will be composed exclusively of Robson residents, and the emphasis will be on riding around Robson. However, for those interested in doing cycling rallies or longer rides on public roads, there likely will be a sub-group of riders who will occasionally go “off Ranch.”
An informal cycling club was started about six years ago, which included both Robson residents and other riders in the area. The emphasis was more on off-Ranch riding than staying on home turf.
“Since I moved here in 2017, I’ve seen more and more riders rolling past my house and in all other corners of Robson Ranch,” said Randy Catron, one of the co-founders of the club.
“It has been great seeing all types of bikes being ridden,” said John Jordan, also a co-founder of the club. “We’d like to see everyone riding, whether on an electric bike, trike, recumbent, mountain bike … or really any type of bike.”
The club is in the initial stages of being formed. The first official club meeting will be held Thursday, June 29, at 6 p.m. in the Creative Arts and Technology Center (CATC) building.
“We’re excited about the interest being shown in the club,” said Catron. “We have more than 30 people on our preliminary member list after just one ride and a few announcements.”
Between now and the first club meeting, there will be a ride starting at 8 a.m. every Friday morning from the parking lot of the Wildhorse Grill.
