In August we were treated to a visit from a statewide candidate, Luke Warford, who’s running for Texas Railroad Commission. In case you’re wondering, the Texas Railroad Commission oversees the Texas oil and gas industry. This includes everything from permitting and inspecting new wells to pipeline construction, as well as plugging older wells. They also regulate producing wells and are the agency that would require and enforce winterization requirements. Winter storm Uri caused failures at the wellhead, which falls squarely in the Railroad Commission’s area of responsibility.

Luke has degrees in economics and political science. He has worked both in the public sector in community organizing and voter registration, as well as in the private sector with the Albright Stonebridge Group, helping businesses grow and create jobs.

Mr. Warford said this about why he’s running for Texas Railroad Commission: “In order for energy jobs to continue to be the backbone of the Texas economy for decades to come, we need a Texas Railroad Commission that embraces technology, innovation, and science. It’s too important to wait.” Learn more at lukewarford.com.
