The Robson Ranch Democratic Club welcomed Denton City Council District 2 Representative Dr. Brian Beck as the keynote speaker to its February membership meeting. Dr. Beck gave an overview of the Denton City Charter and how issues are procedurally considered by the Denton Charter Review Committee and then selected to be put on the ballot for the upcoming local joint elections.
Out of 10 topics that were considered by the Charter Committee this past year, four were chosen to be on the May 2025 ballot.
Dr. Beck mentioned the four city council seats, including his own, that are up for election this spring and the status of candidate filings.
Also speaking at the meeting was Dr. Pat Lewis, RRDC co-president, on the pending development of a Democratic Club Nominating Committee, how it will function, and the future need for volunteers to serve.
Robson Ranch Democrats learn about civic and political issues together, respecting each other’s opinions. We meet candidates, register voters, volunteer to help elect Democrats, serve as election workers, and have a good time together! We meet every month (except May, June, July, and December) on the first Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Robson clubhouse. Everyone is welcome.
