Named one of the top five school boards in the state by the Texas Association of School Administrators, the Board of Trustees for the Denton Independent School District is comprised of seven members elected at large by all voters in the district. The RR Democratic Club had the privilege of hosting one of those members, Doug Chadwick, at the club’s February monthly meeting.

As a board trustee since 2016, Doug has served in a variety of roles impacting education within Denton ISD for nearly 40 years. Running unopposed for the Place 3 seat, he shared his vision for the future and his goals to ensure Denton ISD students possess the skills to succeed after graduation. Always working for a better classroom, he described steps undertaken to further develop policies and practices to provide the school faculty with the tools and resources that enhance the classroom capability and educator’s personal sense of accomplishment.

With academic excellence the Board of Trustee’s top priority, he addressed efforts to secure the necessary state funding to maintain and/or improve learning standards and performance. Doug also offered insights into the DISD’s objectives and criteria in qualifying learning programs and measuring student achievement.

Doug Chadwick, dedicated advocate for DISD and committed community leader, is just one of the many guest speakers presented at the Democratic Club’s monthly meetings.
