Denton ISD Launches Honor Card Program for Active Duty Service Members and Veterans
The Denton Independent School District is introducing the Honor Card Program. Eligible veterans and active-duty service members can obtain an Honor Card that provides complimentary general admission to most Denton ISD home events, including athletic competitions and fine arts performances.
You’re eligible if you are an active-duty service member or veteran and either:
* Live within Denton ISD boundaries, or
* Are a family member of a Denton ISD student, no matter where you live
The program is the district’s way of saying “thank you” to those who have given so much on behalf of others and who continue to give back here at home. When Honor Card members fill the stands at games, concerts and performances, students see firsthand what commitment and service to something larger than yourself look like.
“Service is something we talk about in our classrooms, and it lands differently when students can see it in the people around them,” said Dr. Susannah O’Bara, Denton ISD Superintendent of Schools. “These men and women have already given a great deal on behalf of others. We want them in our gyms and our auditoriums, cheering for our kids, because what our students learn from having them there is truly invaluable.”
There is no cost to obtain an Honor Card. One card is issued per person and must be presented at the event entrance for complimentary admission. Applicants should bring two things at the time of pickup: a valid photo ID showing their name, date of birth and home address, and proof of military service, such as a military ID, a Texas driver’s license with the Veteran designation, a DD-214 or a VA-issued veteran ID card. Cards are non-transferable and may be used only by the person to whom they are issued.
Where to Pick Up an Honor Card
Veterans and active-duty service members can pick up a card in person and will be asked to complete a brief form during their visit. Please bring a valid photo ID that displays your name, date of birth and home address, along with proof of your military service.

Some exclusions apply. The Honor Card may not be honored at UIL playoff games, tournaments, invitational events or any event that has reached seating capacity, as postseason games are governed by agreements beyond the district’s control. Events hosted by outside parties at district facilities are also not included. Full program details and a list of frequently asked questions are available at www.dentonisd.org/honor-card.
